“Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse” To Get National Rerelease This Weekend, Including IMAX and Dolby Shows

The Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is set to get a “huge rerelease” in screens across the United States, including IMAX locations, according to one of the directors of the film.

Rodney Rothman, the co-writer and co-director of Into The Spider-Verse, tweeted about the rerelease this afternoon.

Given that the tweet was sent on the February 26, we estimate that the rerelease will be from February 28 to March 7, after which Captain Marvel will take over premium screens.

However, don’t expect the film to take over too many IMAX screens as the documentary Apollo 11 will be released on many IMAX screens on March 1.

Showtimes are currently populating on theater websites. The additional shows won’t only consist of premium formats such as IMAX and Dolby but also of standard 2D showtimes.

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse has received much critical acclaim and won an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. It did receive an initial IMAX release back in December when it first opened, but had to compete with other films such as Aquaman and Bumblebee also vowing for those screens.
