Staten Island’s South Shore has a new multiplex! Today Regal Cinemas opened a brand new theater on the South Shore called Regal Bricktown Charleson, located at 165 Bricktown Way.
This marks the second new multiplex to open in Staten Island this year and the third to open in New York City. The opening was delayed by a fire in 2017 and ongoing inspections.
But now it has opened its doors with the first slate of movies being John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum, Pokemon: Detective Pikachu, A Dog’s Journey, Poms, The Hustle, Uglydolls, Long Shot and Avengers: Endgame.
The theater has 10 auditoriums, contains recliner seats, a cafe and a RPX screen. And, obligatory for Staten Island, it has a parking lot.
The theater’s features seem almost identical with Regal Essex, opened earlier this year in Manhattan’s Lower East Side.
Prices here however are on the lower side, with standard 2D films coming at $11.90 for matinees before 4PM and $15.10 after 4PM. In comparison, Regal charges $17.90 at their new Essex Crossings location.
Earlier this year AMC Theaters also opened a new location in Staten Island, but that was Mid-Island at the Staten Island Mall. In addition, Alamo Drafthouse plans to open a location on the East Shore of Staten Island in New Drop.
Regal used to have a location there, United Artists Hylan Plaza 5, until they had to shut that down for a new shopping mall to be built.
This won’t be Regal’s last new theater in New York City. The chain still has plans for two new theaters in Queens: one in Sunnyside and one in Flushing.
Regal doesn’t seem to have a page set up for the theater just yet, but showtimes are available at Fandango.
