AMC Theaters, the largest theater chain in the United States, permanently closed six major multiplexes throughout the country following an agreement with EPR Properties, a commercial landlord.
“EPR made certain rent concessions in exchange for other rights, including its ability to terminate up to seven leases. In conjunction with this agreement, AMC has ceased operations at six EPR-owned theatre locations nationwide,” AMC wrote in a statement sent to multiple local news outlets.
The theaters which are now closed are as follows:
- AMC Studio 30
- AMC Hamilton 24
- AMC Portage Street 10
- AMC Oakview Plaza 24
- AMC Woodridge 18
- AMC West Olive 16
“AMC continues to have constructive discussions with our landlords as we work together to effectively manage through this COVID crisis. This includes reaching a global agreement with EPR Properties, one of our most prominent landlord partners, which was executed on July 1, 2020,” read the company’s statement.
